'Perfect' is a romantic ballad written about his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, which Sheeran said he hoped would become another one of his defining songs and, according to the BBC, is 'guaranteed to soundtrack thousands of first dances before the year is out'.
In an interview with Zane Lowe, he said 'I just wanted to beat 'Thinking Out Loud' because I know that song was going to define me...With 'Perfect', it was like, I need to write the best love song of my career'.
